MLB Expansion: Salt Lake City and Portland in the Running
Major League Baseball's potential expansion has sparked debate among sports analysts, with many speculating that one team will be added in the east and one in the west.
Salt Lake City and Portland, Oregon are considered top contenders for the western team.
“For me, it’s Salt Lake City and Portland,”said John Canzano, a sports journalist and radio show host in Oregon,
“I think they’re underserved markets.”
Canzano believes Portland would be a great fit for an MLB team, but acknowledges that Salt Lake City might have an edge.
“If this is a marathon, and it feels like one to me, Salt Lake City is ahead,”he said.
Salt Lake City's advantage lies in its established ownership group, The Larry H. Miller Group.
