While waiting for the pirates to arrive in West Craven next March, consider embarking on a treasure hunt of a different kind by visiting your local library's studies section.
In Barnoldswick, a fascinating discovery awaits. Upon entering the library, a collection of watercolours greets visitors, including works by local artist and author Ken Wilson. Wilson wrote and illustrated the remarkable book The Wreck of the Rohilla, which tells the story of a hospital ship that ran aground near Whitby at the start of World War I.
The ship was on a mission to rescue wounded British soldiers from northern France, with 15 members of Barnoldswick's St John Ambulance Brigade on board, serving as Royal Navy sick-bay auxiliaries.
