President Donald Trump commuted the 7-year prison sentence of former U.S. Rep. George Santos on Friday.
Santos, a Republican from New York, was sentenced to 87 months in prison in April after pleading guilty to wire fraud and aggravated identity theft.

He had appealed to the Trump administration to intervene, claiming the sentence was overly harsh and politically motivated. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene also urged the White House to commute his sentence, calling it a "grave injustice" and a product of judicial overreach.
