Trump Commutes Sentence of George Santos
Donald Trump announced that he has commuted the 87-month prison sentence of former New York Republican Congressman George Santos.
The reason for the commutation was stated as:
Santos had the Courage, Conviction, and Intelligence to ALWAYS VOTE REPUBLICAN!
Santos was expelled from Congress in 2023 and pleaded guilty in 2024 to identity theft and wire fraud. At his sentencing, he stated:
I allowed my ambition to cloud my judgment, leading me to make decisions that were unethical and guilty.

- He could have received up to 22 years in prison for the crimes.
Trump wrote on social media:
George Santos was somewhat of a ‘rogue,’ but there are many rogues throughout our Country that aren’t forced to serve seven years in prison.
