Rosalia Marie Mott was born on March 31, 1938, in Eureka, to Winnifred Marie Baldy and Elmer Gray George. She passed away on October 13, 2025, at her home in Hoopa.
She was the eldest of three siblings, including Mervin George Sr. Rosalia grew up in Eureka for a time and returned to the family ranch in Hoopa in her teens.
Early Life and Education
Rosalia was a lifelong resident of Hoopa, attended school in the valley, and graduated in the class of 1956. She was an avid musician, playing the tenor saxophone and piano in the school band.
Musical Legacy
She also played in the family band with her Uncle Ray and Auntie Edith, and later accompanied her brother's band, the Merv George Band. Rosalia shared her love of music with her daughter and granddaughter, who both played the saxophone.
Her love of music will be remembered by her family and community.
