Obituary: Elaine M. LaLuzerne
Elaine M. LaLuzerne passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, and woke to new life in Christ.
She was born on November 22, 1937, in Rudyard, Michigan, to Elmer and Florence (English) Toppe. The family moved to Door County when Elaine was 5 years old, and she lived in Sturgeon Bay since elementary school.
After graduating from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1955, Elaine attended DK Teachers College in Algoma, where she met her future husband, Darrel LaLuzerne. They both taught in Door County public schools until the birth of their first child, Cindy, in 1964.
Elaine loved being a stay-at-home mom, raising her children, and welcoming all family and friends into her home for delicious home-cooked meals, fellowship, and laughter.
As
the welcoming Mom to all the neighbor kids, she created a cozy and loving environment for everyone around her.
