Professional women's volleyball is coming to Los Angeles, with the LOVB league announcing the launch of an LA expansion team funded by Angel City investor Alexis Ohanian, who is also the husband of Serena Williams.
"We're excited to make LOVB the third jewel in Seven Seven Six's LA sports family,"
Ohanian's venture capital firm, Seven Seven Six, is behind the new club, adding to a portfolio that includes Athlos, a track and field competition, and The Offseason, an NWSL-focused docuseries, as well as the men's Los Angeles Golf Club.
Alexis Ohanian noted that volleyball is a natural fit for Southern California, given the region's warm reception to new professional sports teams.
