Coffee transformed her life — and the lives of women from her village in Uganda

Coffee Transformed Her Life

Meridah Nandudu, a single mom of two, was unemployed and in despair before discovering the potential of coffee beans from her parents' farm in Uganda.

She founded and runs Bayaaya Specialty Coffee, where she brews a medium roast coffee, saying:

Medium roast is my favorite... It brings out the caramels, the body of the coffee, the chocolate flavors.

Coffee has become a critical part of her life story and her work to improve the lives of women in her community, near the border with Kenya.

Nandudu grew up in the remote village of Bugibulungu, surrounded by banana and arabica coffee trees.

Author's summary: Coffee changed her life and community.
