Local bird rescues in Sonoma are still struggling to cope with the influx of unwanted roosters and birds, despite warnings issued several weeks ago.
“We’re completely at capacity,” said Tania Soderman, founder of Sonoma Chicks Rescue and Sanctuary.
Soderman's sanctuary, which has been operating since 2015, currently houses over 100 birds, including chickens, ducks, injured pigeons, and turkeys, cared for by Soderman and one intern.
The crisis has not slowed down, and funding has not kept pace with the increasing number of birds in need of rescue.
Author's summary: Sonoma bird rescues are overwhelmed with unwanted roosters and birds, lacking sufficient funding.
