The Gering Police Department and other agencies are investigating skeletal remains found on the Scotts Bluff National Monument property.
The Scotts Bluff County Attorney's Office confirmed that belongings found during searches belonged to Chance Englebert, a Wyoming man who went missing on July 6, 2019.
The investigation into his disappearance has been ongoing since it was reported, with the Douglas County Coroner's Office in Omaha assisting in the forensic examination of the remains.
The examination will include a Forensic Pathologist and scientists from the University of Nebraska-Omaha, analyzing dental records, DNA samples, and other scientific evidence.
No official statement has been made regarding the identification of the skeletal remains.
