HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) collected £256 million from over 10,000 Capital Gains Tax (CGT) compliance checks in 2024/25.
The number of CGT compliance checks rose from 7,769 in 2023/24 to 10,063 in 2024/25, a 30% increase.
The additional tax collected surged from £182 million to £256 million, a 41% increase.
BCLP says the figures reflect HMRC’s intensified focus on CGT compliance.
