The UK's flagship polar research vessel, RRS Sir David Attenborough, is set to embark on a mission to Antarctica to advance climate change research.
Operated by the British Antarctic Survey (BAS), the state-of-the-art ship will aid in various climate change-linked science projects, including tracking glacier melt, whale populations, and "hunting underwater tsunamis".
"The saying goes 'what happens in Antarctica doesn't stay in Antarctica',"
said BAS oceanographer Peter Davis, who expressed disappointment at the US withdrawal from scientific exploration in the region, calling it "a shame".
