Province to Change Licence Plate Theme
The provincial government is planning to introduce a new design for licence plates, with a theme of "Strong and Free".
According to the government, this theme "echoes the province's Latin motto and reflects Alberta's bold identity, economic strength and deep-rooted provincial pride."
The motto's inclusion on the licence plates will also serve as a nod to Canada's national anthem and Alberta's position as a strong and sovereign province within a united Canada.
Residents can vote online for one of eight unique designs that incorporate the province's landscape and history until November 15.
The new design will be introduced in 2026, marking the first change to the licence plates since 1984.
