UConn Leads Women's Preseason AP Top 25
Defending champion UConn is ranked No. 1 in the country in The Associated Press Top 25 preseason women's basketball poll.
The Huskies received 27 first-place votes from a 31-member national media panel. South Carolina, last season's runner-up, was picked second and garnered the other four first-place votes.
- UCLA and Texas were ranked third and fourth.
- LSU was ranked fifth.
- Oklahoma was sixth, its highest preseason ranking since 2008.
UConn is led by sophomore Sarah Strong and super senior Azzi Fudd under coach Geno Auriemma.
The SEC has 5 teams in the top 10.
