A councillor has submitted a proposal to Longford County Council to relocate the bottle banks at Purth church to a new location in Derrycasin woods/Mullinalaghta.
Councillor Garry Murtagh of Fine Gael raised the issue, stating that every area should have a bottle bank to promote recycling. The motion was seconded by Independent Councillor Turlough McGovern.
"I'm told that it is on track so if it's possible to look at moving the bottle bank at Purth which is causing concern to some of the residents living out there because it is attracting vermin and it is within about 25-metres from a house.
The Longford County Council's Regeneration Team is currently assessing the situation. The proposal aims to address concerns about the current location of the bottle banks, which are causing issues for local residents.
