Pro-Hamas Messages Disrupt Airports

On Tuesday, October 14, the Kelowna International Airport (YLW) and Victoria International Airport (YYJ) experienced a cyber security incident.

Public address systems and screens were hacked, displaying pro-Hamas messages, including "Free Palestine" and cursing the U.S.

Some flights were delayed due to the incident, which started around 5 p.m.

The YLW team successfully removed the unauthorized messaging and restored flight information display screens, and worked to restore the PA system.

According to the City of Kelowna, the incident was limited to a cloud-based third-party software provider.
