Violent offender tackled by wife and kids now jailed for more time

Violent Offender Jailed After Family Intervention

A Portland husband and father has been jailed for tormenting his family for six months, after his wife and three sons overpowered him.

The man, who cannot be named, pleaded guilty to family violence-related offences in the Portland Magistrates' Court on October 14, 2025.

He had previously faced court for breaking his wife's ribs and had served 109 days in pre-sentence detention, deemed a high risk of re-offending.

The court considered a community correction order (CCO) with judicial monitoring, despite the man's lawyer arguing that time served and the CCO were sufficient.

The man's sentence includes additional jail time, reflecting the severity of his crimes.
