Rare Calico Lobster Makes Debut

A 1-in-30-million calico lobster, named Jackie, has made her debut at Northeastern University's Marine Science Center in Nahant, Massachusetts.

Jackie owes her unique colors to a mixture of chemical compounds. She is joining other Halloween-themed animals, such as spiders and bats, as a symbol of the season.

According to Sierra Munoz, the Marine Science Center outreach coordinator, the odds of catching a calico lobster like Jackie are about 1 in 30 million, making her even rarer than the center's other recent star, Neptune the blue lobster, which has odds of 1 in 2 million.

"Jackie is a rare orange and black lobster, making her debut at Northeastern University's Marine Science Center,"
