Former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga Dies Aged 80
Former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga has died at the age of 80, according to family sources.
Odinga died on Wednesday while receiving medical treatment at a hospital in India. He suddenly collapsed while walking with family members and a personal doctor, and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead.
There had been speculation about his health in recent weeks, although family members and political allies had dismissed reports suggesting he was critically ill.
Politicians and leaders, including Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, have been sending their condolences.
Odinga was a political mobiliser and towering figure in Kenyan politics, running unsuccessfully for the presidency five times and rejecting the results each time, often saying
victory had been stolen from him.
