Rotterdam Man Sentenced to 18 Years for Raping Teen
A 37-year-old Rotterdam man, Michael Randy Rabine, was sentenced to 18 years in prison for forcing a teenager to have sex with him.
Rabine pleaded guilty to first-degree rape in Schenectady County Court, admitting to forcing a person to have sexual contact, according to the Schenectady County District Attorney's Office.
The investigation began when the teenage victim, who knew Rabine, told her mother about the abuse, which started when she was 14 years old. The victim reported that Rabine forced her to have sexual intercourse and perform sex acts, claiming that a man named "Ricky" would kill him if she did not comply.
Prosecutors said that "Ricky" did not exist.
The victim's statement to police led to Rabine's conviction and subsequent sentencing.
