Tennessee Fishing Guide Catches Record Bass
Caleb Bell's state-record fish is an Alabama bass, a subspecies of spotted bass considered invasive in Tennessee.
Officials in Tennessee certified a new state-record bass after confirming the species in a lab.
“Unfortunately, Alabama Bass are an invasive species that was introduced illegally in Tennessee,”
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency said local fishing guide Caleb Bell caught the state-record Alabama bass from Parksville Reservoir in Polk County, weighing 7 pounds 3 ounces.
This record surpasses the previous Alabama bass record, caught in 2014 from the same lake, by just three ounces.
