13 Investigates: He forged a death certificate. Now he runs a funeral home in Colorado Springs

Funeral Home Scandal in Colorado Springs

A man once convicted of forging a death certificate is now running a funeral business in Colorado Springs, despite the state's efforts to tighten oversight after a disturbing funeral home scandal in Penrose in 2023.

Adam Casey, who calls himself a "Mortuary Master," opened Casey's Home for Funerals in Colorado Springs earlier this year. He describes his business as offering "cinematic" services, with music, performance, and celebration at their core.

"Our services are not traditional simply because we are very, very cinematic with the way that we provide services,"

Casey said. "We definitely like to sing and pretty much help the family heal, along with the celebration of life."

Despite his troubled past, Casey's business is perfectly legal, raising concerns about the state's oversight of the funeral industry.

Author's summary: A convicted felon runs a funeral home in Colorado Springs.
