Parade Season Returns to Palm Springs with Renewed Focus on Safety

As parade season kicks off in Palm Springs, police are emphasizing safety, advising attendees to try to get to the event early and be mindful of traffic.

This comes after a Palm Springs Police officer, Kenney Merenda, lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a crowd during the annual Palm Springs Festival of Lights Parade last year.

The Palm Springs Police Department (PSPD) is implementing significant safety reforms to prevent similar incidents, including new policies for staff when working events with vehicles involved.
