With the game tied 3-3, Randy Arozarena hit an infield single, and Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Andrés Giménez made a spinning throw to first base. The throw sailed wide and hit Mariners slugger Eugenio Suárez, who was sitting in the dugout.
The ball was initially ruled out of play, allowing Arozarena to advance to second base.
