Bank Invests in Red Mangrove Restoration Effort
RF Bank & Trust (Cayman) and Sustainable Cayman have partnered to restore red mangrove habitats along Grand Cayman's South Sound Boardwalk.
In recent decades, hundreds of acres of mangrove habitat have been destroyed, leaving the island vulnerable to storm surge, flooding, and coastal erosion.
The non-profit organisation is determined to restore the mangroves to mitigate the impact of climate change and overdevelopment.
Although mangrove replenishment is part of the government's climate policy, no steps have been taken to implement it.
