Residents of Hyderabad woke to noticeably cooler mornings, with minimum temperatures ranging between 13°C and 15°C. The sudden drop was attributed to the influence of Cyclone Ditwah, currently active in the Arabian Sea. Weather officials reported that the cyclone altered wind patterns, pushing cold air toward inland regions like Telangana.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the region experienced a sharp decline in both daytime and nighttime temperatures. Several districts, including Medak, Nalgonda, and Adilabad, recorded some of the lowest readings of the season.
“The impact of Cyclone Ditwah on temperature patterns will be felt for the next two to three days,” an IMD official noted.
Dry winds following the cyclone’s movement contributed to the chill, making early mornings and late evenings significantly cooler than usual.
Urban residents welcomed the cool spell after an extended period of humid weather. Meanwhile, the IMD advised farmers to monitor temperature fluctuations as they could affect crop conditions. Meteorologists expect temperatures to stabilize once the cyclone weakens and wind directions normalize.
“We may see slight warming after midweek as the system moves further away,” meteorologists predicted.
Author’s summary: Telangana experiences an unusual cold wave caused by Cyclone Ditwah’s wind shifts, marking a short but distinct change in seasonal weather.
