Accra, Nov. 28, GNA – The Accra College of Education has held its 15th Congregation with a message encouraging newly qualified teachers to accept postings to any part of the country as part of their national service.
The Principal of the College reminded graduates that teaching is not only a profession but also a national duty that contributes directly to the country’s development. Graduates were urged to demonstrate commitment, discipline, and patriotism by accepting their postings without hesitation.
He explained that the Ghana Education Service (GES) strategically places teachers where their skills are most needed, especially in underserved and rural communities. Accepting such assignments is a way of supporting equal access to quality education across all regions.
The Principal also encouraged teachers to uphold professional ethics and continue building their knowledge through lifelong learning. According to him, maintaining high teaching standards and a positive attitude will earn respect for the teaching profession and promote Ghana's educational progress.
Parents, community leaders, and educational authorities were called upon to support teachers posted to their areas by creating a welcoming environment. Support, he noted, fosters motivation and helps teachers perform effectively, even under challenging conditions.
"Teachers are the foundation of nation-building, and their dedication determines the quality of our human resource," he stated.
The ceremony recognized the academic and extracurricular achievements of outstanding students. Certificates and awards were presented to graduates who excelled in various disciplines, reflecting the college's commitment to nurturing competent educators.
“The College will continue to produce dedicated teachers who are prepared to serve Ghana anywhere their services are needed,” the Principal affirmed.
