Jesus cleanses the temple, courageously confronting corruption with prophetic passion—an act that leads to his crucifixion.
Then he brought me back to the temple’s entrance; water flowed from beneath the temple's threshold toward the east, since the temple faced east. The water streamed from below the southern part of the threshold, south of the altar.
He guided me out through the north gate and led me around the outside to the outer gate facing east, where the water emerged on the south side.
He said, “This water flows toward the eastern region and descends into the Arabah; when it reaches the sea—the sea of stagnant waters—the water will become fresh. Wherever the river flows, every living creature will thrive, and many fish will fill these waters. The water will become fresh, and life will flourish wherever it goes.
Along the banks on both sides, all kinds of trees will grow, bearing fruit for food. Their leaves will never wither, nor will their fruit fail; they will produce fresh fruit every month because the water comes from the sanctuary. Their fruit will provide nourishment, and their leaves will offer healing.”
Therefore, we will not fear, even if the earth changes, mountains shake in the sea's heart, waters roar and foam, or mountains tremble amidst turmoil.
This reflection highlights Jesus’ bold challenge to corruption and reveals a vision of life-giving waters bringing restoration, symbolizing hope despite earthly upheavals.
