Canada’s Rachel Homan captured her record-extending 20th Grand Slam of Curling championship after defeating Switzerland’s Silvana Tirinzoni 7–4 in Sunday’s final at the KIOTI GSOC Tahoe event.
Homan and her Ottawa-based team — Tracy Fleury (third), Emma Miskew (second), and Sarah Wilkes (lead) — completed the tournament undefeated with a 7–0 record, earning $42,000 from the prize pool.
“Yeah, it's an unbelievable feeling, especially winning a game that was a battle out there for both teams,” Homan said. “It's just really fun to play such an amazing team, and being able to pull out the win is an awesome feeling.”
Silvana Tirinzoni, alongside Alina Pätz, Carole Howald, and Selina Witschonke, finished second and collected $34,000. The Swiss club entered the final with an 18–2 record this season in Grand Slam play but fell again to Homan, marking their third straight final meeting where Homan prevailed.
In this matchup, Tirinzoni’s team started with the hammer and aimed to avoid a repeat of the prior CO-OP Tour Challenge, where an early mistake led to Homan stealing four points.
Rachel Homan’s flawless performance at the KIOTI GSOC Tahoe earned her a historic 20th Grand Slam title, reinforcing her dominance in international women’s curling.
