Embark Studios has experienced significant server strain due to the sudden surge in popularity of its extraction shooter, Arc Raiders. This weekend, the game reached a record-breaking peak of over 350,000 concurrent players on Steam.
Despite this major achievement, many players faced difficulties logging into the game on November 2nd. The peak concurrent user count reached 354,836 according to SteamDB, but it might have been even higher without the login problems that affected users throughout the weekend.
After the peak, player numbers noticeably dropped, indicating that server issues were actively restricting access.
The studio acknowledged the issues in a statement on the official Arc Raiders Discord, confirming awareness of widespread server, party system, and voice chat instability.
Arc Raiders achieved record player engagement but was challenged by server instability that disrupted login and matchmaking, highlighting the pressures of rapid success.
