MOUNT VERNON — Challenges arise for everyone, regardless of status, wealth, or fame. Wendell Brown sees helping others overcome these hardships as a vital mission through the Tragedy into Triumph series.
As part of this ministry, a three-night event is being held at the R.R. Hodges Chapel and Fine Arts Center on Mount Vernon Nazarene University’s campus.
Mark Richt, former head football coach at the University of Georgia, now serves as an in-studio analyst for the ACC/ESPN Network. His coaching career spanned 33 years, including 14 years at Georgia and three years leading the Miami Hurricanes.
Speaking before a full auditorium, Richt discussed his approach not only to football but to life’s challenges.
“Things are not always going to go the way you want and there are things that are going to happen to you in life,” Richt said. “Some of those things you cannot control, but you can control how you react to them.”
Diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in May 2021, Richt applies his lifelong lessons of perseverance to this new battle.
“The reason I love football is that it is tough,” he explained. “You are guaranteed to get knocked down, but you just have to get back up.”
This resilient mindset fuels his fight, exemplifying the spirit celebrated in the Tragedy into Triumph series.
