Former SEC coach refutes internet reports he’s in hospital

Former SEC Coach Refutes Hospitalization Rumors

Mark Richt, the former Georgia coach and ACC Network analyst, addressed false reports circulating online about his health. Despite rumors claiming he was hospitalized, Richt confirmed he is not in a medical facility.

“Apparently, there’s something out there on the Internet saying that I’m in the hospital,” Richt posted on X. “Lol.”

He humorously added that if someone had seen him running down the street recently, they might assume he needed hospital care. Richt also shared a personal health update from 2021, revealing his Parkinson’s disease diagnosis.

“I have been waddling around lately and people have asked me what’s wrong,” Richt said. “I’ve decided to tell everyone at the same time. I have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Truthfully I look at it as a momentary light affliction compared to the future glory in heaven. Thank you Jesus for promising us a future blessing of a glorified body that has no sin and no disease. In the meantime I am going to enjoy the blessings that I do have. See you on the ACC Network!”

In addition to Parkinson’s, Richt experienced a heart attack in 2019. His coaching career includes a successful tenure at Georgia from 2001 to 2015, where he achieved a 145-51 record and won SEC titles in 2002 and 2005. He later coached the Miami Hurricanes for three seasons, compiling a 26-13 record before retiring in 2018.

Richt’s message reassures fans that he remains engaged and positive despite his health challenges.
