Former BBC One Controller Peter Fincham claims Holly Willoughby, previously a star on This Morning and Dancing On Ice, is being considered to host Strictly Come Dancing after Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly announced their departure at the end of this series.
Once the golden girl of ITV, Holly could now become the BBC’s new queen of Saturday night television. Fincham revealed his information came from a trusted media source in an unusual setting—a hair salon.
“My hairdresser also cuts the hair of a well-known channel controller,” Fincham explained. “What’s said in Harry’s the hairdresser stays in Harry’s. But he says with great confidence that Holly Willoughby will take over.”
If true, this would mark a significant comeback for Holly, 44, who left This Morning in 2023 after 14 years amid intense public scrutiny. Earlier that year, her long-time co-presenter Phillip Schofield resigned after admitting to an extramarital affair with a young male co-worker and lying about it to ITV’s management, colleagues, lawyers, agents, friends, and family.
Since departing ITV, Holly has hosted Celebrity Bear Hunt with Bear Grylls on Netflix; however, the show was not renewed for a second series.
Holly Willoughby is reportedly being lined up by the BBC to host Strictly Come Dancing, signaling a potential strong return to prime-time TV after leaving This Morning in 2023.
