The New Orleans Pelicans faced the San Antonio Spurs at Frost Bank Center on Saturday night but could not extend their winning streak to three games. Despite a stellar individual effort from Trey Murphy, the Pelicans fell 126-119.
San Antonio Spurs’ star center Victor Wembanyama played a vital role, as the Pelicans struggled to contain him throughout the game. New Orleans was unable to keep up despite previous back-to-back wins earlier in the week.
“It was great and we needed it from him,” said Pelicans coach Willie Green. “He scored on every level tonight. He got to the free-throw line. He rebounded the ball well, something that we’ve been talking about.”
Trey Murphy’s remarkable scoring effort stood out, but the Pelicans couldn’t halt Wembanyama or secure a third consecutive win.
Author’s note: Trey Murphy’s career-night demonstrated his growth, yet the Pelicans’ defense and team effort need improvement against strong opponents like the Spurs.
