Evidence response teams from FBI headquarters and multiple field offices are now operating in Louisville to help NTSB investigators investigate the UPS cargo plane crash at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport.
The MD-11F jet went down in the late afternoon of November 6, 2025. According to the NTSB, the aircraft's left engine detached from the wing during its takeoff roll. The detached engine was later discovered between the airport's parallel runways.
FBI personnel are aiding with the debris recovery process both on the airport grounds and across nearby residential and commercial properties. In addition, FBI bomb technicians are ensuring the crash site remains secure.
Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg stated that nine people are still missing, and twelve fatalities have been confirmed following the fiery crash. He also noted that the victims' identities will be released by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.
