Vicky's First Thanksgiving Experience
My initial Thanksgiving was in 2012. Determined to make my then-boyfriend from Louisiana feel at home during his first Thanksgiving outside the US, I enthusiastically prepared the meal. I ordered a turkey from the butcher and searched for side dishes, curious about traditions like gift exchanging.

I embraced some traditions but dismissed others, such as the marshmallow-topped potato dish, which I found unappealing. Over the last thirteen years, my understanding of Thanksgiving has deepened, especially after celebrating multiple times with my in-laws in the US.
