Suryakumar Yadav’s India is set to face Mitchell Marsh’s Australia in the fourth match of the five-game T20I series at Carrara Stadium, also called People First Stadium, in Gold Coast on Thursday.
The series currently stands tied at 1-1, with Australia winning the second T20I and India taking the third. The first match was abandoned due to rain.
Captain Suryakumar Yadav has shown flashes of his best form with two positive starts in the first and third games. He aims to score more runs before the upcoming month-long break leading to the next series against South Africa.
Vice-captain Shubman Gill is looking to improve after a series of low scores in this tour. His recent ODI scores are 10, 9, 24, 37 not out, 5, and 15. His only standout performance came in Canberra, where he built a useful partnership with Suryakumar.
Gill has struggled facing fuller deliveries with some movement and has not yet regained the confident form that defines his game.
Australia will be missing Travis Head, who has been released from the squad to participate in the Sheffield Shield to prepare for The Ashes, following Josh Hazlewood's earlier release.
The contest promises to be an exciting battle, with both teams eager to seize momentum before the season break.
