9News Favourite Livinia Nixon Announces Exit

After two decades as the weather presenter for 9News Melbourne, Livinia Nixon has announced she will step down from this role. Her final weather bulletin will air on Tuesday, 18 November.

Joining the Nine Network in 1997 and taking on the 9News Melbourne weather position since 2004, Nixon shared that her decision is motivated by her family commitments. With her two sons entering their senior years at high school, she wants to be more present for them.

“It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family.”

Although she is stepping away from nightly weather presenting, Livinia will continue her involvement with Nine's popular travel shows, Getaway and Postcards.

“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me,” Nixon said. “When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’ I’m thrilled to be staying with Nine and will be continuing my roles on Getaway and Postcards.”
