9News Melbourne is preparing to say goodbye to one of its longest-serving and most loved presenters this month. Weather anchor Livinia Nixon, 50, will make her final broadcast on November 18, marking the end of over two decades in the role.
Nixon began her journey with the network in 1997 and became the face of the weather segment in 2004. On Friday, she announced her decision to step away from the camera to focus on family life as her sons approach their senior school years.
‘After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I've decided to step back from this role,’ she said. ‘My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them. It's been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers' homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family.’
The veteran presenter reflected on the impact of her career, calling it a defining experience in her professional life.
‘Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me,’ she continued. ‘When I discussed it with our boys, they said, "We're pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum."’
Although Livinia will step down from her weeknight weather duties, she will remain part of the Nine Network family, contributing to other future projects.
