The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announces ordination of Gérald Caussé as new apostle

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced on Thursday the ordination of Gérald Caussé as the newest member of its Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. Caussé, a native of Bordeaux, France, previously served as the church’s presiding bishop for the past decade.

His role as presiding bishop encompassed responsibilities related to humanitarian aid, welfare initiatives, tithing and fast offerings, physical facilities, and membership records. Before that, he served as a counselor in the Presiding Bishopric from 2012 to 2015 and as a General Authority Seventy from 2008 to 2012.

Caussé is the fourth apostle of the church born outside the United States, joining Dieter F. Uchtdorf from the Czech Republic, Ulisses Soares from Brazil, and Patrick Kearon from England.
